In the UK and Europe, anyone riding a horse on racecourse property must wear a body protector that meets the EN13158:2018 safety standard and is at least Level 2. RaceMotion2 is the latest level 2 racing protection.

In some countries outside of Europe, Level 1 is the minimum requirement. RaceMotion1 is an ultra-lightweight alternative but provides a lower level of protection.

In the UK, the BHA now requires all body protectors to meet the EN13158:2018 safety standard. For licensed training yards, the grace period ends on 1 June 2025. While Level 2 is the minimum requirement, the BHA recommends Level 3 for enhanced protection. Yards choosing Level 2 may need to justify their decision through a risk assessment.
